01

Reconstruct the original configuration

Obtain the actual production record and equipment description before listing additions. Ask what was removed, replaced or changed after original delivery. A factory-looking screen, wheel or interior trim may not reveal its origin. The original specification guide provides the baseline. Keep photographs and any installer documents together with that identity. A stock description should mean a substantiated configuration, not merely restrained styling. If the seller cannot distinguish original from added equipment, treat provenance as unresolved before attaching a factory-feature premium to an item that may have been installed later.

02

Identify the purpose of each modification

List the customer task that an accessory is supposed to improve. A camera package may solve an observation need, while decorative pieces may offer only a presentation preference. Record the relevant function and actual result. Avoid treating the installer’s original invoice amount as the item’s present buying value. Some customers will not need the addition, and others may require a supported alternative. The phone and language buying review helps distinguish useful cabin functions from changes that merely alter the display. Value the delivered benefit rather than the length of the accessory list.

03

Review integration with an appropriate provider

Have the responsible qualified provider assess applicable electrical, mechanical and software changes and their documentation. Request the work scope, relevant findings and any correction recommended. A successful short demonstration cannot establish every operating consequence. This is a purchase review, not a procedure for changing charging or high-voltage equipment. Preserve the safe assessment method and its limits. If the modification affects charging, use the equipment compatibility record for the actual arrangement. An adapter, extra connector or seller-labelled upgrade should not be accepted solely because it physically appears to fit.

04

Keep destination eligibility separate from appearance

Ask appropriate local professionals whether the changed configuration affects acceptance, registration, inspection or support at the intended destination. Provide the exact vehicle and documented modifications. Do not rely on the fact that a similar-looking car is already on local roads. Requirements and evidence can vary with the actual transaction. The export preparation guide connects these questions with the purchase file. Until the relevant answer is established, a visually appealing accessory should not be described as a ready-to-use benefit for every customer or every importing market.

05

Price restoration and missing original items

If the preferred route is to return the vehicle to an acceptable original arrangement, obtain a supported scope and price. Include missing parts, labour, assessment and relevant repeat checks, not only the visible replacement piece. Ask whether original removed items are delivered and whether their condition is known. Compare this complete correction with an already suitable stock candidate. The cost worksheet prevents double counting a restoration allowance already included in preparation. A proposal remains proposed work until its completion evidence exists; a promise to undo modifications later should not silently become present satisfactory condition.

06

Use equal inspection evidence on both offers

Commission comparable condition reviews on the original and modified cars. Factory equipment can be worn or faulty, and added equipment does not automatically prove abusive use. Investigate actual observations and histories rather than judging from a photograph. Preserve access limitations where accessories conceal areas. Ask which remaining system requires additional assessment before acceptance. The vehicle inspection record supplies the wider condition context. Compare preparation-adjusted amounts after these findings, with a reserve for the uncertainty you are actually willing to accept rather than a blanket discount for every modified car.

07

Accept a precise delivered arrangement

Record original identity, additions, verified functions, supplied original parts and completed corrections in the purchase schedule. A substitution needs a fresh modification record even if the seller uses the same package name. Choose the modified route when it supplies supported useful benefits at an acceptable complete cost. Prefer another car when integration or essential eligibility remains unresolved. Use the equipment schedule to preserve the agreement. Do not promise manufacturer support, future software capability or safe restoration merely from an installer label. The final customer description should name what was demonstrated and what support actually applies.

QUESTIONS

Before you decide.

Is an unmodified car automatically sound?

No. Original configuration and present condition require separate evidence.

Should accessory invoice value be added to the asking price?

Only useful supported benefits deserve consideration; original expenditure is not their automatic current value.
